Over the past days/weeks, life has caught up to me

Over the past days/weeks, life has caught up to me and I have not taken as much care of myself as I should be.

Headaches, nausea, fatigue, poor sleep, procrastination, zoning out and surface moods.. yesterday was the first moment where I couldn't ignore the alarms.

As a therapist; I'm constantly encouraging, cheerleading, providing space, challenging when others aren't making themselves a priority.

After yesterday, today I've been in a contemplative recovery mode. The brain wants to make decisions out of safety and preservation, however, the logical side knows that maladaptive behaviors won't address the root and only provide temporary relief.

So I sat in it today.. no tears, just acknowledging what I'm feeling. Listening to the why, silencing the noise.. focusing on what is in my control, what truly matters and what I can shift to allow necessary rest.

To all my clients, patients, friends and family- I may be checked out a little more than usual fir the month of May. Has nothing to do with you and everything to do with providing myself with rest.

This may look like canceled sessions, canceled plans and me saying no.

The reality is, I am only one person and to replenish my cups, sometimes I have to step back.

So be prepared to a refreshed version of myself mid June!
